Travels

RVCA SPORT | NYC

Last month RVCA took over New York City with a series of events centred around RVCA NYC and the Now & Then: Beautiful Losers Exhibition. Our VA Sport Advocates represented their pillar of the brand and hosted our RVCA Family & Friends with many private + public events at local New York establishments including Overthrow Boxing Club, The Dogpound Gym, Superare Fight Club and Vitor Shaolin Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. We're thankful to be invited into these communities in New York and to have the opportunity to have hosted the following events:

Overthrow Boxing Club workout with their founders Joey Goodwin + Alicia Napolean and VA Advocate Jason Parillo

The Art of Breath coursework with Brian McKenzie at Dogpound Gym

Superare Fightshop in Lower East Side, NY autograph signing with BJ Penn

Mendes Bros + BJ Penn BJJ seminar at Vitor Shaolin Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

RVCANYC | SKATE

From August 21-27 our Skate Advocates, Andrew Reynolds, Kevin "Spanky" Long, Curren Caples, Nestor Judkins, Zach Allen, and Kader Sylla joined the RVCA family in New York City for a number of events, centred around the gallery exhibition "Now & Then: Beautiful Losers, Alleged Gallery, and 90's Lower East Side". During the week RVCA Skate was out in the city, they held 2 different events with our favourite NY skateshop, KCDC. On August 22 there was an Ed Templeton photo show at KCDC Skateshop in Brooklyn, NY and on August 25th we hosted a BBQ/skate jam at the Pump Track Park in Brooklyn.

Special thanks to Amy Gunther and her team at KCDC for hosting us in NYC - it was an incredible week.

Damage Frito | Alex & Ellis

For Californian surfers, Mexico is always a blip on the radar, providing an easy escape from many the overcrowded lineup. In “Damage Frito”, RVCA Advocates Alex Knost & Ellis Ericson pack up the van and head south of the border to find a mixed bag of right pointbreaks, some playful, many exciting. From gliding across slow, Malibu-esque walls to threading through fast, hollow sections, the unique lines drawn by both surfers is very pleasing to the eyes. As they trade waves and swap boards, our only thought is that we wish we were there. Photos by Delon Bone, video by Jimmy Jazz James, song by White Fence.

Overthrow Boxing Club | RVCA Sport

August 23 marked the first day of #RVCANY -- our RVCASport Advocates kicked off our New York event series at the legendary boxing club, Overthrow. RVCA Advocates BJ Penn and Jason Parillo led a boxing workout with Overthrow's co-founder, Alicia Napolean. Many Advocates representing the balance of opposites, participated in the intense workout: Surfer & water safety expert, Kai "Kaiborg" Garcia , photographer Andrea Dosouto , street artist/graffiti legend DMOTE , and RVCA founder, PM Tenore . Special thanks to the crew at Overthrow for their hospitality and hosting our RVCA family.

Next time you're in New York, be sure to stop by Overthrow -- jump in one of their intense training session and experience the gym's raw authenticity.

We will also have a special collection launch with Smith Street Tattoo Parlor and a Women’s brunch headlined by musician and RVCA advocate Lily Meola. In the past, RVCA has taken the brand roadshow to places like Australia, Puerto Rico and annually, to Hawaii as part of the RVCALOHA campaign. RVCA Morocco

From Tangier to Casablanca, Morocco has long had an alluring aspect to it. Summoning writers, artists and musicians to explore it’s unique yet diverse culture. The RVCA skate team found themselves drawn there in exploration of untapped spots and rarely skated cities. Starting in Tangier and making their way down the coast to Safi, the days were spent skating, eating tagine, couscous and drinking sweet green tea with mint leaves. With camels on the beach, ancient castles and mosques and contrasting modern architecture, Morocco proved itself the perfect backdrop for an array of great skate spots, good times with friends and adventures they’ll never forget.
