Christian Hosoi | Black Friday

This Black Friday, November 23rd we will be releasing Christian Hosoi's new RVCA collection + a limited edition RVCA x Hosoi Hammerhead skateboard deck.

Quantities are very limited and will be available only a short time.

Christian Hosoi needs little to no introductions. Originally from Venice Beach, CA, Christian took the skateboard world by storm, skating with a style and flair all his own and redefining not only what it meant to be a skater but the way tricks should be done. Inventing signature ticks such as the Christ Air and Rocket Air he quickly became one of skateboarding's most admired pros by the early 1980's. IN 1984 he designed one of the most iconic skateboard shapes of all time, the Hosoi Hammerhead, to this day it represents not only Christian's influential impact on the skate industry but also the unique individuals and creativity that drives our culture. In 2011 Transworld Skateboarding Magazine listed Christian as the 4th most influential skateboarder of all time and to this day he remains one of the all-time great ambassadors of skateboarding and style.

It's been two rewarding, but relentless years with solo exhibitions in Sydney, Tokyo, San Francisco, Auckland, Hobart, Christchurch, Bali, Byron Bay and Portugal. Now we're proud to present the latest series of works by prolific artist Paul McNeil.

Everything's Unreal is a collection of new pop works reflecting McNeil's dry humour and incredible wit. Simplicity is the backbone to this ongoing series. Personal truths, localism, music, politics, humanity and surfing show up in these vibrant paintings and sculptures.

---

Born in NZ, now based in Byron Bay. McNeil's career spans over 40 years. An original Mambo artist, Paul has published several kids books, co-founded The Art Park and designed endless graphics on Surfboards, skateboards, clothing, album covers, merchandise for musicians and tour posters including The Clean, Pavement and The Rolling Stones.

This exhibition is proudly supported by RVCA and the Artist Network Program.

The artist would like to thank The Music Farm Studios in Byron for their ongoing patronage.

Cardboard Ferrari

Slove works retail, right here in Byron Bay. He spends more time drawing on the back of receipts than cleaning the shop floor. He already considers himself a paid artist as the drawings are completed on the clock. A little naughty and a little cheeky. Just like his art.

Jaxson is a carpenter in Byron Bay. He is great with his hands. A talent that has allowed him to create relate-able and humorous art that doesn't look that shit. Their artistic debut, 'Cardboard Ferrari' presents over forty original illustrations. Their work is stylistically similar, shameless and fun; incorporating bold pen work and water colour.

Alex Knost Bonzer | RVCA Surf

Alex Knost pays homage to The Campbell Bros and their revolutionary surfboard design, the Bonzer. The Bonzer was the first standardized tri-fin surfboard created in 1970 by Malcolm and Duncan Campbell. Over the past year, Knost's friendship with the Campbell Bro's has become a catalyst for several retrospective art exhibitions, exclusive clothing collections, and custom shaped boards. We are honored to commemorate the Campbell Brothers and their forward-thinking surfboard designs with this RVCA x Campbell Bros collection.
