Tom Gerrard Exhibition | Through My Eyes

RVCA Special Edition Artist Tom Gerrard recently travelled to Tokyo and opened ‘Through My Eyes’ at the RVCA Upstairs Gallery Tokyo. Australian artist Tom Gerrard explores his surroundings through his daily drawings in his passport sizes sketchbooks. In his first ever Japanese exhibition he is presenting 20 works on paper that explore a diverse range of subjects and objects that he has executed in his minimal colour palette of red, black and white with the odd hint of chrome and grey.

These subjects are the commonly overlooked items in Australian life. Each piece has been approached as he would a page in his sketch books. Yet he has swapped out his pens for spray paint, ink, watercolour and acrylic paints. This is a unique exhibition for Tom as the demands of large galleries of his home town of Melbourne have seen his work grow in scale and price. With this exhibition, he has taken a step back from the large canvases and wooden panels and worked exclusively on large sheets of paper.

Thanks to Bintang for the opening night refreshments. View the catalogue of available works here.

Barry McGee | Museum of Contemporary Art Santa Barbara

June 30 marked the opening reception of Barry McGee's new exhibition titled "SB Mid Summer Intensive" at the Museum of Contemporary Art Santa Barbara. The summer evening was buzzing with hundreds of guests captivated by a comprehensive blend of Barry's paintings, drawings, sculptures, antique surfboards, and an interactive space titled, the "L. Fong Healing Arts Centre" -- a massive accumulation of illustrations, photographs, zines, and ephemera created the artists' friends. It goes without saying, soaking in Barry Mcgee's universe in Santa Barbara makes for an extraordinary summer experience.

The SB Mid Summer Intensive exhibition will be on display until mid October - visit MCA Santa Barbara for more details.

The Draculas | Exhibition at Made By Millworks

The Draculas debut show titled “13” opened June 23rd at Made by Millworks in conjunction with POW! WOW! Long Beach.

This exhibit featured new works by ANP artist Jeff McMillan, Gary Musgrave, and Jake Kazakos in all large format hand screened prints. Every piece was designed to be a screen print and in limited editions of 13.

The show was inspired from all the work the crew had has done over the last 3-4 years under the Draculas name. Some of the art has made it onto walls while others have been used for illustrations and merchandise and some pieces in the show have never seen by anyone, just a bunch of reworked rejected drawings!!

Attendees of the show were supplied their own super secret decoder ring by The Draculas ... that they used to participate in a city-wide scavenger hunt.

also, EXCLUSIVELY available at the opening - pick up discounted drink tickets for Draculas after party at The V Room (Draculas HQ)

POROUS WALKER | VASF EXHIBITION

warning: the following artwork exhibited contains content for mature audiences only. viewer discretion is advised.

May 11, 2018 was the opening reception for Porous Walker's exhibition located at VASF, the RVCA Flagship Gallery in San Francisco, CA. The show was curated by Yong-Ki Chang of Equal Dist, providing a range of mediums, including Porous's perverted prints, infamous illustrations, interactive installations and a new RVCA sandal line that we may or may not release. The show had a tremendous turnout with hundreds of smirking faces throughout the night. The gallery was brimming with laughter from fans and friends consuming the brilliant absurdity of Porous Walker's work. This collection of works is on display at VASF until the end of June 2018. Stop by and check it out...unless you're easily offended.

REMIO | AUS CORNER GALLERY

The RVCA Corner Gallery was excited to welcome back REMIO to open, “I’m Not Discussing My Day” his first solo body of works on display in Melbourne since his 2014 show “Subconscious Rumours”. To sum up his work, Art Primo SF describes REMIO as: "Known for his playful handstyles, throwups, and iconic “R” character, Remio is a founding member of the VTS graffiti crew and a regular contributor to the seminal THR and VLOK crews. Recently, Remio has transitioned from painting almost exclusively in the streets, to the staid gallery world, bringing his unique vision to the larger art community."

Pumps In The Trunks | VASF Photography Exhibition

The opening reception for The Pumps In The Trunk photography exhibition was Friday, March 16th at the RVCA San Francisco flagship store. It was a fun event that brought people together around one of California’s oldest passions. Natalie Aleman, Matthew Bajda, Emmanuel Blackwell, Nick Jasso, and Rully each shared a personal view of their love of cars and the communities surrounding that passion. The raffle at the end of the night was a success in which people could walk away with prints of their own, and one lucky winner won a camera -- our hopes are that prize will inspire them to start shooting photos.

Special thanks to Tim Diet for providing the soundtrack for the evening, Pabst Blue Ribbon for the cold ones, and the crew at RVCA VASF.
